Production Service in Western Norway
On the west coast, the route is part of the production. Billy Budd plans shoots around the landscape, the weather and the time it takes to get people and equipment into position.
Discuss your shoot
Bergen as a starting point
Bergen is a production hub for Western Norway, with local crews, suppliers and accommodation. It can be the arrival point and preparation base without being the right place to stay for every shooting day.
For film production around Bergen and further into the region, we plan the base around the locations. Billy Budd is based in Oslo and coordinates the regional crew and suppliers needed for the shoot.
Hardanger, fjords and coast
Hardanger brings fjords and mountain terrain into the location search. Along the coast, fishing communities, harbours and working boats offer a different setting. Mountain roads add another set of possibilities for car and travel work.
The scout needs to establish both the image and the access. A viewpoint, road or quayside may have limited room for vehicles and equipment. We assess what the unit needs on site and what can remain at a nearby base.
Location scouting in Norway

Distance is not travel time
A short distance on the map may involve a ferry, a winding road or a transfer by boat. The schedule needs loading time, crossings and the return journey, as well as the time spent filming.
For fishing vessels and other marine locations, the plan follows the vessel’s availability, access arrangements and conditions on the water. Local operators are part of the planning conversation early.
A workable unit on location
Small crews can reduce the footprint at difficult locations. They still need the right skills, equipment, shelter and support. We plan the crew and kit around the work and the access, rather than reducing numbers in isolation.
Weather can change the order of the day. Alternatives, realistic travel allowances and accommodation near the shoot can give the production room to respond. We coordinate local suppliers, transport and location arrangements with that in mind.
Share the brief, dates and likely crew size. We can work through which locations belong in the same schedule and where an extra travel or preparation day needs to be considered.
